Nisswa-stämman Scandinavian Folk Music Festival, June 6 & 7, 2014, features 150 folk musicians performing on 3 stages, day-long dancing opportunities on two dance floors, dance instruction, a cultural children's activity tent, and great Scandinavian food...all under the shade of the majestic Norway pines of the Nisswa Pioneer Village in Nisswa, Minnesota. We are going into the 15th year of the festival, and yet another special line up of award winning musicians from Scandinavia has been arranged. They include: Jæ’ Sweevers Trio, Denmark - one of Denmark’s most traditional fiddlers, Peter Uhrbrand teams up with his daughter, Kirstine Uhrbrand on piano, and accordion player Ole Mortensen; MAAR trio, Norway - Britt Pernille Frøholm on hardingfele, Irene Tillung on accordion, Ellen Brekken on doublebass; Ellinor Fritz and Leonor Palazzo, Sweden - fiddle and 5 string cello combine to make truly inspirational folk music. USA groups and individuals appearing include the Ripple River Fiddlers, Saana, Ole Olssons Oldtime Orkestra, Skål Klubben Spelmanslag, Ivares Pojkarna, Loretta Kelley, Skålmusik, the American Swedish Institute Spelmanslag, Twin Cities Hardingfelelag, Hutenanny, Finn Hall Band, the Footnotes, the Twin Cities Nyckelharpalag, Nordic Bees and about a zillion others!

Here is the basic Nisswa-stamman 2014 schedule:

Friday June 6 -

10 am - 3 pm - Scandinavian music and dancing workshops, Nisswa area, open to public. There is a fee involved. Email Janet Hill for information at:  janet.hill@rocketmail.com

7 pm - Gala Opening Sampler concert, Lutheran Church of the Cross, Nisswa, $15/person. All tickets available only at the door. Sales start at 6 pm.

9:30 pm - 1 am - old time dance featuring several bands. Nisswa American Legion Club, Nisswa, Mn.

Saturday June 7 -

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nisswa-stämman Festival (Nisswa Pioneer Village) $10 - adults/ $1 - children 15 and under. All tickets available only at the gate.

4:30 p.m. - 6:00 pm - Smorgasbord (Nisswa American Legion, Nisswa) $15 - Tickets available on Friday night and Saturday at the events.

7 pm  - 1 am - Old time dance featuring even more bands than Friday night. Nisswa American Legion Club, Nisswa, Mn.
