Finn Hall
Finn Hall, also known as "the Minnesota Pelimannit"
in the Twin Cities Finnish community, evolved into the present
group about seven years ago. Prior to that time there were occasions
when two or more of these individuals would play together for
audiences at events or would accompany the Twin Cities Finnish
folkdance group "Kisarit" at their performances. They
all share a passion for Finnish folk music, especially the dance
music of both traditional folk and couples social dance.
Finn Hall performs traditional
Finnish and Finnish American folk music. The diversity of their
music is especially appealing to dancers....from the high energy
driving rhythms of Finnish polkkas, humppas and jenkkas to the
often minor-keyed emotive walzes and tangos. Instruments employed
are piano accordions, violin, mandolin and bass. Vocals are sung
in the Finnish language. They have been featured on the "Old
Finn Hall 97" video and are on several tracks of the CD
" A Finnish American Christmas" 1998 produced by Koivun
Kaiku ( another local Finnish folk music ensemble)
Finn Hall is: Ralph
