Bo
"Bosse" Larsson
Bo is the nephew to the legendary fiddler Leonard Larsson, best
known as Viksta-Lasse (1897-1983), and Bo is keeping the tradition
in an exceptional way. Bo is a highly respected fiddler in Sweden
and is often asked to teach at workshops and courses around the
country. He serves as a model for young fiddlers and is a constant
source of inspiration. When the students at the Royal Music Academy
are assigned to meet a "real" fiddler, they invite
Bo. He is honored with many different distinctions, foremost
among them is the title Riksspelman - (National Master Musician).
He carries on the music of Viksta-Lasse and Gås-Anders,
but also plays lots of tunes from Dalarna and Hjort-Anders (as
Viksta-Lasse played with Hjort-Anders during many, many years).
Bo's father, Sven Larsson, was
a talented harmonica player and Bo learned much from him as well.
Sven was also a master dancer. Thanks to him, the Uppland polska
known as the bondpolska, was saved from extinction. Bosse has
had a long fiddler's career performing with Viksta-Lasse, his
father Sven and with his children Robert and Ingela. He has also
been playing a lot with Ole Hjort and and in the 70's in the
group "Tre Lekare" (with Leif Alpsjö and Elisabet
Söderlund). Other fiddling friends of Bo's are the Åkerbypojkarna
and Curt Tallroth. Bo has toured a extensively in Sweden and
has also represented Sweden several times at international festivals,
like Nisswa-stämman.
